Briggs' sister Peg came up from Monterey to hang out for the evening, which took some of the heat off of me for going out by myself on a Friday night, now the second night of a three-night marathon..

Will Bernard's 4-Tet was a winner, the Greyboy rump project that played middle relief was pretty good (played an homage to Eddie Harris), but a bit longwinded. Zero opened with Afro Blue and encored with Use Me. The second set was powerful, with a tense versions of Papa was a Rollin' Stone and an orchestral reading of It's Up to You.
